Antique Maori New Zealand Black wood panel, with Mother of Pearl inlaid eyes. 61 1/2" wide x 26" tall x 2 deep. Various scenes of sailing, paddling, fighting or playing with tutelary divinities and decorative deities.
Originally used in a Maori House as an over door decoration. Received by Matson line executive in 1956 and brought to USA on the S.
