VINTAGE MAORI TIKI HANDCARVED WOODEN FEATHER TRINKET BOX NEW ZEALAND TRIBAL #1. EXCEPTIONALLY FINE VINTAGE MAORI TIKI BOX. Presenting a fabulous hand carved vintage wooden box featuring an exceptionally well carved and finely detailed Maori Tiki design complete with inlaid paua shell eyes.

This superb example is finely hand carved with a beautiful depth and exceptional attention to detail. This stunning piece features a deep relief carved Maori Tiki face to the top of the hinged lid. The Tiki is exceptionally well carved with exquisite fine detail and completed with inlaid paua shell eyes. Carved zig-zag borders trim the edges of the box, while traditional fern leaf and spiraling designs adorn the sides. Each side of the box has been decorated with curved fern leaf details. This beautifully crafted vintage piece has been expertly finished with a concealed hinge, which really adds to the quality and craftsmanship of this exceptionally fine piece. This fabulous Tiki box is presented in very good vintage condition with no big chips, cracks or repairs. There is one shallow chip to the top reverse side of the box below the concealed hinge which is noticeable only on close examination and in no way detracts from the beauty of this piece.

The timber remains well nourished and has developed a lovely warm mellow patina that only time can bring. The paua shell eyes are secure with no losses.

This exquisite vintage piece has been well cared for and presents spectacularly. This superb Tiki box measures approx 100mms in length, 100mms in width and stands 55mms tall. This superb example would make a fine addition to any Tiki, Kiwiana, Maori, Pacific Islands, Oceanic or Tribal art collection!
