Vintage Pacific Islands Fiji Carvd Etchd Wood Cannibal Chief Eating 4 Prong Fork

Offering a vintage carved wood cannibal fork from Fiji. This is their style of carving including bits of Paua inlay. The baton measures about 12.5 in length.

I was told this special fork was for warring chiefs to eat their slain enemies. It is nicely carved, of solid heavy woodl. The neck around the baton has an old braided rope for hanging the instrument up. Recently, I came across boxes full of baskets and carvings from Africa and Asia and thereabouts.
