This exquisite example has been spectacularly decorated with traditional Maori Tiki designs detailed with finely inscribed adornments following the interlocked curves of the flowing forms. The large panel is divided into two sections with a central bar decorated with ovals motifs separating the two masterfully carved figures.
The design has been expertly hand carved with an exceptional depth and magnificent attention to detail. This piece most likely adorned a meeting house, representing the genealogy or ancestors of the tribe. SIZE: This impressive piece measures approx 68.5cms high x 23.5cms wide x 5.5cms in depth.
