Hand-Carved Ceremonial Toki (Adze) with Pounamu Greenstone Jade Blade. Very richly and expertly carved long handle (29 long). I'm not sure what kind of wood is used for the handle, very likely Tulip Wood.
Has a Pounamu (Greenstone Jade) blade that is 6" long and 1.75" wide (at widest point). The blade is attached with braided natural fiber. It was obtained at an estate sale in Los Angeles, California along with a collection of other Polynesian and Southeast Asian items that were reported to date from the late 1970s. The wood, pounamu (jade) stone, and carving all appear to be very high quality (see photos). It is in excellent condition.
