NEW ZEALAND MAORI PICNIC GROUP, ORIGINAL ALBUMEN PHOTO late 1880s Polynesian

An original 19th-century New Zealand albumen print photograph dating to around the late 1880s, approx. 100 x 150 mm, unmounted. Beautiful image of a group of Maori (mostly women and children) enjoying a picnic in a field - perhaps it's the Easter holiday? They are dressed in their Sunday best, and at least one of the women - the one at far left - is wearing a traditional cloak.

This is a beautiful original print with excellent clarity and tonal range. No inscription or photographer's name on the reverse.
