New Zealand Kauri wood is one of the world's most valuable type of wood. There is no other wood in the world as rare and exclusive as the ancient Kauri wood.
These trees were laid to rest in the swampy Northern part of New Zealand about 30k - 50k years ago! Due to the trees large size, Kauri is nearly always knot-less. Common uses for this amazing wood is boatbuilding, furniture, cabinetry, veneer, musical instruments (guitars), & turned objects. Please examine the pictures carefully. There are a few very small nicks on the lid and general wear.
Around where the knob is, it appears that maybe it was rubbed too harshly with perhaps a scrubbie? It's subtle and not too noticeable but you should be aware. It is marked "NZ KURAI" on the bottom of the bowl.
It stands 5.25 in. Tall and is 11.5 in. The bowl itself is 3 in.It looks rather mid century modern to me. Please message me if you have any questions.
