This MAGNIFICENT cotton quilt is hand appliqued and hand quilted, with a traditional Maori design made by noted New Zealand fabric artist Lorraine Harvey in the mid 1980's. After learning to make traditional quilts for several years, Harvey began experimenting with ethnic and original designs. An issue of "American Quilter" magazine, Spring, 1987, featuring Harvey and some of her quilts is included. It measures 56" X 58" and is in excellent condition, with the occasional small, faint age spot and no wear. There is quilting around and within the applique and in a ripple design in the background -- similar to what you would find in a Hawaiian quilt -- all at 6-7.
The back has a large black border and center off-white square, the hand stitched binding is black, and the batting is thin. A black sleeve is sewn on the back, making this ready to be used as a wall hanging. The ONE-OF-A-KIND Maori design and BOLD COLORS make this COLLECTOR'S QUILT stand out!
