FINE VINTAGE MAORI TIKI BOX. Presenting an exceptionally attractive vintage hand carved wooden Maori Tiki box. This fine example displays a nice amount of age and character. This piece is finely hand carved with superb depth and exceptional attention to detail. This stunning piece features a deep relief carved Maori Tiki face to the top of the domed hinged lid. The Tiki has been exceptionally well carved with fine diamond detailing and protruding tongue. Inlaid paua shell eyes perfectly complete the Tiki. The front side of the box features an intricate spiral design, the sides are decorated with a deep diagonal zig zag carving and the reverse side features a Maori fern design. Striking zig zags trim the edges of the box, perfectly framing the competently carved designs. The lid is fitted with a concealed hinge which speaks to the quality of the piece. This well crafted box has an appealing rich dark finish with pleasing warm tones. SIZE: This impressive Maori Tiki box measures approx 125mms in length x 100mms in width and stands 60mms tall. CONDITION: This fabulous piece is presented in excellent vintage condition with no breaks, cracks or repairs. The timber has developed an appealing mellow patina that only time can bring.

The paua shell eyes are secure with no losses. This exquisite vintage piece has been well cared for and presents spectacularly. This superb example would make a fine addition to any Tiki, Kiwiana, Maori, Pacific Islands, Oceanic or Tribal art collection!
