Presenting a magnificent vintage hand carved Maori Tiki figure which is beautifully signed to the reverse "Tatau Tatau". This impressive freestanding piece has been expertly carved into the form of a traditional Maori Tiki. The front face of the figure is beautifully detailed with powerful Maori Moko design. The Tiki is depicted with a protruding tongue and beautifully finished with large inlaid paua shell disc eyes.

This exceptional example has a pleasing rich, dark colour, displays a magnificent depth and the intricate carved patterns have been masterfully executed with exceptional attention to detail. Nlaid paua shell disc eyes. SIZE: This impressive figure stands approx 230mms tall, measures 120mms in width and 45mms in depth. WEIGHT: This solid wood piece weighs 550 grams.

CONDITION: This piece is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The timber has developed a pleasing mellow patina that only time can bring. Light signs of age including the odd scuff and scape beautifully enhance the charm and character of this authentically vintage example. The paua shell discs are in superb condition with chips or cracks and remain in secure, stable condition. A hole has been drilled to the reverse side enabling the piece to be hung upon a wall. This exceptional example has been very well cared for and presents spectacularly. MARKS: This piece features a stamped mark to the reverse "Tatau Tatau".
