Vintage New Zealand Red Ensign Flag 1930s 1940s 32in x 16in Sewn Linen VGC

An original, panel stitched New Zealand Red Ensign flag, most likely from the 1930s or 40s. Made by Arthur Smith & Sons Ltd of London. With canvas hoist hem and original hessian rope and wooden toggle. The maker's stamp is faintly visible on the canvas hoist hem. The Union Flag has been superbly stitched and the four stars have been individually cut and sewn onto the fabric. Ideal for framing or display. 2ft 8in x 1ft 4in, or approximately 80cm x 40cm, in excellent condition for it's age. Clean and with vibrant colours, there's no fraying to the Fly end, there are a few tiny historic moth nips. It has remained in storage for several years.
