For sale is a set of medals comprising of: The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Military Division, Officer's O. ; 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; Defence and War Medals, 1939-45, the latter with bronze M. Oak leaf upon ribbon; Naval General Service, 1909-62 with clasp, Palestine 1945-48 named Commander. With three'Royal Naval College Dartmouth prize medals for Heavyweight Boxing, dated 1925-27, and a'Theseus Cup' bronze medal for Rifle Shooting dated 1929, riband bar and miniature riband bar. They come with copy London Gazette and basic research notes. London Gazette: 26 May 1953. London Gazette: 1 January 1942. Was born in Plympton, St Mary, Devon, in 1907. He commenced instruction at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth in 1925, during which time he received several college prizes for Heavyweight Boxing. Appointed Sub-Lieutenant on 1/12/ 1928, he was commissioned as Lieutenant on 1/7/1930, and was promoted to Lieutenant Commander on 1/71938, just prior to the Second World War. During WW2, he was serving as captain of the escort destroyer H.

Cotswold which was involved in a collision with H. Donats (mine sweeping trawler), off Spurn, Yorkshire which sank her and left the Cotswold requiring repairs for a one-month period before returning to sea.

Online research suggests that he saw later service with the Combined Operations Material Department and C. In 1944, and as Commander of the shore base H. Seeing further post-war service during the Palestine 1945-48 operations, he was latterly sent to serve'on loan' with the Royal New Zealand Navy, based at the shore establishment H. Tamaki (near Auckland), for which services he was appointed O. Prior to his retirement in January 1957.

He died in 1992 in Brighton, England. Please view my other collector's items for sale.
